Miami has become a jewel in the crown of the United States of America, a city that is as rich in history as it is in its diverse culture and it’s time to bring one and all into the fold. Because of this, our education and career goals should be as big as the city in which we reside. In joining DMC, students can obtain the skills to change everything.

About DMC

Founded in 1999, Dade Medical College (DMC) currently has more than 2000 students and is growing every year. An institution that started with about 50 students and two programs (Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Massage Therapy) 14 years ago, now offers associate and bachelor’s degrees as well as diploma programs. DMC accepts applications from international students, and has campuses in Florida from Homestead all the way up to Jacksonville; select programs are offered online. All courses, textbooks, and written materials are presented in English, and supplemented with Spanish as needed.

Preparing students for successful careers and assisting graduates in securing gainful employment are only part of DMC’s mission. DMC’s larger goal is to support its students and alumni at all stages of their lives and careers. Students walk into DMC as strangers, but when they leave they are family.

DMC’s programs of study include Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, General Radiologic Technologist, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Nursing, Psychology and Physical Therapist Assistant.

DMC recently acquired Jacksonville’s Southern Career College and underwent the long and arduous process of obtaining university certification for the school, which has now become the University of Southernmost Florida, a Dade Medical College learning affiliate. Following the acquisition, the focus has been on putting together a leadership team that would bring quality education and real-world experience together, which began with the naming of Dr. Steven Kerr as President of the University of Southernmost Florida. Dr. Kerr has brought a wealth of experience to the institution—he is currently senior advisor to Goldman Sachs and was Goldman’s chief learning officer and a managing director from 2001-2006. He was also General Electric’s vice president of corporate leadership development and led GE’s renowned leadership education center. USmF’s emphasis on experience was further exemplified by Dr. Kerr’s selection of Don Slesnick, former Mayor of Coral Gables, as Dean of the School of Public Administration. Slesnick, managing partner for the Law Offices of Slesnick and Casey, has been in private practice since 1976, representing public sector employee organizations. He previously held management positions with Dade County Public Schools and the Dade County Police Department. The University recently launched its first South Florida campus in Coral Gables, where it continues to assemble a core of talented and experienced individuals.

Dade Medical College and the University of Southernmost Florida dedicate themselves to being inclusive—not exclusive—educational institutions, where individuals from all walks of life have the opportunity to receive the quality education and experience that may not be available to them at traditional schools.

With over 400 full-time employees staffing Dade Medical College’s six Florida campuses and corporate office, the school features a fully-licensed and certified faculty whose commitment to excellence in education are unmatched by other area colleges and institutions.  A majority of the faculty and administrative staff originates locally, with many having been educated at other prestigious local and national institutions.  The college offers Associate in Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and Associate in Science degrees in other programs such as radiology, diagnostic cardiac sonography, medical billing and coding, and diagnostic medical ultrasound. Classes start every four weeks. Online course offerings are also available.
